@avclub-88321772d0844dd947d91346f9561910:disqus I'm pretty sure the lyrics are adapted from the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Tibetans are of course known for their silliness.
I'll stand up for the article too. I've never seen the show, but I agree that it's interesting to hear someone to discuss something earnestly that's not usually treated that way.
Mozart's Requiem followed by Bye Bye Life from All That Jazz
I liked their campus more back when it was called Princeton.
Thanks everyone. Like I said, I wasn't trying to argue, just wanted to hear some more as I'm certainly less familiar with Cornelius than the other two.
Kenny, not trying to argue, but would love to hear you expand on that statement. In what ways was he as important as Brown and Gordy? Thanks.
I binge watched season 1 of Boardwalk. I tried watching season 2 episodically, but it just didn't do it for me.
Todd points out how well Breaking Bad sets up mini-goals and conclusions for its episodes. I think Boardwalk Empire (and Rubicon, for another example) fail in this. There's not enough tension and…
Hijacking your Golden Globes thread. I agree with Amelia. They're completely inexplicable. I'm in a Golden Globes pool this year and thought I could just place a check next Breaking Bad, which apparently isn't even nominated.
I agree that Sunset Boulevard is amazing. In general, I love all Billy Wilder movies, with Double Indemnity and The Apartment leading the way.
Lou Rawls "Little Drummer Boy"
Joe and Eddie "Children Go" (not sure if that counts as a Christmas song, but my friend thinks it is, and it's still awesome)
By Santa's Beard do you mean Mrs. Claus?
I'm not so sure that this movie is going to bomb. I went to go see West Side Story for its 50th anniversary on Wednesday. When I got to the theater, it had a line out the door. My first reaction was that I couldn't believe that many people showed up to watch a 50 year old musical. I then saw they were all holding…
I knew this was an Isley Brothers' sample, but hadn't listened to the original before. I was surprised that it's also used in Rhymefest's "All Girls Cheat." One of my favorite things in hip-hop is rappers taking the same sample and doing different things with it.
You sure you don't mean one of the Bengals?
Ummm… the Muppets are puppets, not marionettes. They have nothing to do with string theory.
I always preferred "Deep Deep Trouble." Great DJ Jazzy Jeff production.
Yeah, the Gonzalez error was a bigger blunder than anything Bartman did. I always placed a lot of the blame on Alou for the way he reacted to not catching the ball. I think his being so demonstrative instead of just laughing it off ratcheted up the tension and contributed to the ensuing bungling.
Six from Blossom takes umbrage with your claim that seven is "the only number that sounds like a name."
