Yeah, I wouldn't claim that roasts are the noblest art form or anything, but they do have a simple straightforward appeal. I find myself getting sucked in by almost any of them; there's just something about rattling off insults (even if many of them are actually kind of formulaic when you stop to analyze them).

He's also a good MC for these things because he's reasonably affable and reasonably funny, but doesn't overshadow everyone else.
