Michael Holley's book "Red Sox Rule" has a fairly extended section about Terry Francona managing Jordan on the Barons - sounds like there's more insight in print than there is on the screen.

Dirk Benedict, yay!

Actually, Napoleon figures into the Alvin Maker series, which were mentioned in the previous post.

I was surprised the Alvin Maker books didn't show up in the article above - I definitely consider that Alt History. I disagree with geoffrois' assessment, but I do think that the stories begin to lag around about the third book, particularly the endless courtroom scenes the dominate a lot of the latter books.

He was on 30 Rock last night, too.

Yup.

Ha! Here I was thinking I'd have to start this thread. Was also predisposed to dislike "Buffy", and "Doppelgandland" was the first episode I saw. I was racing to keep up with what was going on, and surprised that I cared. Thanks for writing about this show Noel, it's a great way to look back on it.

yay! me too!

Yeah, I don't see how they could leave Gilette out of this one.

Absolutely agree that the 2 Use Your Illusion was overkill - there was maybe one good 16-track album on those two discs. Why did they let Duff sing a song? Alternate lyrics for "Don't Cry", huh? I haven't heard the new album yet either, but I think G 'n R would have been capable of evolving throughout the '90s and

Finally
Over the course of the last decade and a half, G 'n R could have become the universal mainstream success that U2 became. Instead, we had the Spaghetti Incident and infighting… I'll buy this.

More than a Chinatown joke…
I've read that the movie script was an adaptation of Cloverleaf, which was Robert Towne's screenplay that was supposed to be the follow up to The Two Jakes.

Alternate Title:
Too Little, Too Late

Chuck Norris is a poor man's Dennis Quaid. Have Dennis Quaid and Kurt Russell ever co-starred in anything? I think the screen would probably explode from the sheer force of awesomeness.

The Quaid
The scene where Dennis Quaid crashes into a building is unrealistic not because The Quaid walks away unharmed, but because THE BUILDING IS STILL STANDING. No way that building doesn't collapse into a heap after he hits it.

Indeed
Did Miracle at St. Anna at least have a scene where a bunch of German children ran down a street shouting "Omar kommt!" followed by Nazis getting mowed down by shotgun blasts?

coffee
The sequence in the hospital where Xander and Cordelia argue and she later returns, wordlessly handing him coffee and donuts, is my favorite Xander/Cordelia moment ever. It says more about their relationship than the usual bickering/necking.

phew
I was worried this feature had gone on permanent hiatus…

can clone wars be any worse…
than the phantom plotline, attack of the clowns, or revenge of the fans?

Is Jordy a werewolf? Uh-huh. So how long's that been going on.
