about Carvey and Myers and Sandler, but cut Meadows a break. He's a character actor, not a comedian. It's not like he's gonna get up there and spout off a killer set of brand new jokes. If he can still get laughs - deserved or not - doing the same character and people are still willing to watch and pay for it…

Perlstein's previous book, Before the Storm? I haven't been able to find it cause it's out of print, but it seems like a good companion piece to this one. Then again, I haven't read either of them so what the hell do I know.
