Wow, I need to look for this box art. That sounds pathetic.

Consequently, your worldview might be wrong but it's probably pretty entertaining.

Can we please say enough already with revisionist history? W was vomit-inducing enough (with a few clever fantasy sequences).

Wow. Looking through yesterday's exchange … while I think I might have made one or two points (sorta?) I was out of line to call Phipps a whore. He's part of a bigger issue that is not under his control. I was having a debate with a close friend over the points I brought up in my original "take," which only

Outside of saying "I'm right, you're wrong." which has been the overriding theme of this exchange and the theme of every exchange since the beginning of time. It's funny that the disagreeable party is a douche, while everyone else are enlightened purveyors of yes man homerism, truth, and integrity.

How so? Enlighten me.

I serve on a film programming committee as well, OTP, and you're right on many levels. But its funny when someone "discovers" a filmmaker or film and then everyone rushes out and writes similar articles on their blogs, under the pretense that they were first or more culturally savvy because they copied someone elses

Whoa, I grossly underestimated the climate of having an opinion and having the audacity to post it in the anonymity of the internet.

I should add another comment, responding to Keith's oh-so-cute quip :

Not necessarily "The Man" Phipps, but [Insert your favorite critic here]'s opinion.

D+?

And what's more interesting, is that critics work under the guise that they are "discovering" new entertainments, when most of those are selected by some sort of gatekeeper while the rest of the critical community sits in a circle facing one another and sharing different adjectives to say the same thing.

Criticism is simply a crapshoot
…and most of it stems from the general self-importance with which critics anoint themselves.

It's sad to know that today's country isn't really country, you know?

Yup, looks like I missed a few details. However, I stand by my claim that Criterion should remain a film-only label.

Nah—

Yeah, but if they released an album like that it would no doubt suck listeners in.

Whoa, I think QBF5000 got a hold of the new album's lyric sheet…

Maybe they'll show a YouTube video of a monkey peeing in his mouth.

That video is embedded from Vimeo. They've been having a lot of server problems lately, so I'm not surprised.
