This is not very good news.
Can't say I'm totally down with this idea. Criterion has always been about cinema and I wish they could stay that way. Criterion, to me, is not a label meant to host some patently obscure TV show that no one discusses now just so that some hipster has arrogant fodder to use at parties.

I wish I was as blissfully self-aware as teadoust.

So….
Is Kevin Federline in some ways like Orson Welles?

"Between grief and nothing, I'll take grief. "

I still can't believe this.
I was born around the time of his best work but I'm such a sucker for 80's cinema and John Hughes movies have always been so familiar, comfortable, and just downright watchable, that I'm taking this exceptionally hard. This is just awful, awful news.

John Hughes is dead.
And I'm devastated.

Sometimes I love The Hater…
Other times, I think it's written by a petty, over-analytical jerk. This is one of those latter days.

I disagree with his opinions but the old man can turn quite a phrase. Also, I love his out-and-out I-dont-give-a-shit-what-anyone-thinks character. Too many critics timidly worry about the reception of readers and the critical community, so they rarely take a defiant stance and merely pile onto loathed/praised

Haha, awesome. You referenced things that are related to your username.

Sorry, have bottle rocket on the brain…Rushmore.

What film has Jason Schwartzman made better by his presence that wasn't Bottlerocket? Like him if you wish, but you could literally plug John Krasinski or anyone into those roles and I wouldn't know the difference.

I'm with you JVS. Plus I love traditional animation (undoubtedly spiced up with a smidge of CGI here and there). Some film blogs are bashing it alone on its "look" which is amazing, but I have high hopes.

But to the OP's point, it really is a stupid lowblow.

That's fine…I just kept clicking and clicking thinking they were different takes.

And Jason also has a music….career?

…Apparently because 9/11 changed EVERYTHING.

Dear Hollywood
Could we see a little less of Jason Schwartzman please? He's effectively worn out his welcome since 2001.

Unfortunately, he probably only got in for a 5 minute scene. Apatow has already said he dropped the ball and they're looking to give the character his own movie.

Wow. I love the NY Observer…

So hard to believe that our beloved, pure film industry would resort to the tactics of a 5 year old.
