Undercover Brother?
Anyone else really REALLY love this movie? It, too, got a distinctly bad rap upon its theatrical release but I saw it in the theatre and flipped at how much I enjoyed it. Very funny stuff (and you can understand what the lead is saying!)

"Pootie Tang" is not bad so much as inexplicable. You watch in puzzlement: How did this train wreck happen? How was this movie assembled out of such ill-fitting pieces? Who thought it was funny? Who thought it was finished? For that matter, was it finished? Take away the endless opening titles and end credits, and

And here I thought from the movie posters way back when that it was a lame, stupid film. I value the opinions of people here so I'll probably rent, watch, and weep that I didn't love it sooner.

Shaun of the Dead is a huuuge exception I think, ( and I completely agree that it's first rate). I also agree with blondie that it can be pretty disasterous/overly campy when put in the wrong hands.

I wonder about that, Perfect Tommy. I'd say some of their tracks are pretty heavy/grungy, but others are pretty much mopey shoegaze alternative.

Miranda July would be Marcy's Playground

I love her Jimmy Kimmel interview where she basically admits that Michael Bay objectified her nubile 15 year old body in Bad Boys II, then gets a job in Transformers many years later and lets him pose her like a barbie doll and make her jiggle in slow motion. Not complaining, but I lost a lot of respect for her after

It really depends on your taste but I personally like lots of extras. Unfortunately, some criterion releases are better than this as others— And now they have this thing called "Essential Arthouse" which basically packages the movie and thats it. I made the mistake of getting "La Strada" under this heading, when I

Well, All things considered, its playing at Toronto After Dark, which, you guessed it, is basically the midnight screenings.

Yeah, but I was disappointed that it had nothing to do with a human being murdered. Boo.

actually, I'm now pissed. I DEFINITELY got the original Criterion release that has no special features. Went to B&N and they have the new one available for about the same price.

Huh. Bought this a few days ago…
50% off all DVD's at B&N for July— not an employee but IMHO its a great deal. Unfortunately it looks like I'll be getting "not this" version. Got Repulsion and Renoir's Rules of the Game for 30. Not bad.

your clarification is adorable :)

I can see this happening, Jim

Umm, how was my reply a) annoying and b) not totally fucking true?

BIG UPS HATEERRRRRR

Yeah, and the rape of Casey Jones via hockey stick was pretty edgy too….

Oh. I was wondering what the deal was. It's delicious here. Plus, Chang in the name…doesn't the word "Chang" hold any weight with AVC'ers? I think it does…
