…after the opening. I thought it was going to be another stupidly precious twee/indipop tune, but this has real energy.

excellent compilation! very cohesive and yet each song has atleat one melodic surprise. the songs in general keep the cold, repetitive new wave/post-punk smarts of those genres, but can absolutly be appreciated by straight pop people. It's now be default reading backdrop.

Give him props, like Carot Top!?
It's good for what it is, which, as others have mentioned, is guitar-based modern rock. Bob Mould should definitly get credit for being one of the brains behind this sound, and he brings greater sincerity to it that a lot of his imitators.
