I guess we now know who took his stapler.

What was foremost in my mind while watching it was Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.

Fast food tasted better in 1969 because in 1969, everything was cooked in fat.
McDonalds' fries used to be cooked in suet, for chrissakes. SUET! And they were awesommmmme.

I submit Anne Frank Part 2 in defense of American Horror Story. Penny Dreadful so far has the man-ass advantage, though.

I am too embarrassed to say how it is that I own a copy of "Melon" their remix CD from that era, but has anyone else ever listened to it? There are remixes on there of Numb and Stay that I feel are better than the originals. Also great remixes of Mysterious Ways and Salome.

It really was overplayed. But I think All That You Can't Leave Behind is a great record. Not perfect like Joshua Tree, but a great record. "Walk On" and "Kite" just devastate me.

For me personally, it is the eternal hope for redemption. I don't root for these people any more than I rooted for Walter White. I hoped he could and would redeem himself in some small measure. This is what I find so compelling about morally compromised protagonists. As long as you have breath in you, you can find

That was an exceptional hour of TV, but that is bothering me. The rabbi telling him he has black eyes, and calling him a demon in Hebrew, his apparent untouchability and unquenchable sadism. It doesn't jibe with being told at opening of every episode that this is a true story and told exactly as it happened. Dramatic

Oh man, I am seriously distressed that Malvo knows where he and Greta live, and that he threatened the Rabbi and his family. He is such a scary, dangerous monster.

That's very kind of you to say. Thank you.

So often these conversations devolve into a reductionist argument of Who Has It The Worst. And if you're not in that demographic, you need to shut the fuck up about your pain.
So many of our problems as a species could be solved with empathy. Trying to imagine wearing someone else's shoes.
When I hear people speak about

So along with all of the self-imposed consequences people face;
guilt. self-loathing, shame, depression, isolation, they should also be
made to endure societal consequences… Because they don't aesthetically
please you or meet an unattainable standard. If you're fat there will
be Consequences and Repercussions

I believe it in the same way I believed Hank never connecting the sketches of Heisenberg being Walt until he had his toilet epiphany. It's totally plausible to me.

What is going on with the very deliberate focusing on Jared's hands and what he is about to eat? Last week was the close up of the bread, then a lingering up close shot of the peanut butter jar. This week the orange.

I think what made Roger flip from Cool Hip With-It Dad to Stern Authoritarian Inflexible Dad was essentially realizing he IS Cletus. Cletus who bangs someone's hippy daughter with daddy issues.
I don't know if he has the awareness to articulate that consciously, or if he realized it instinctively , but it skeeved both

Fuck yes. I love Betty as well. In a show where everyone talks about subtext and layers, I think Betty has them in spades. She's my favorite female character on this show.

I would argue he did in fact help to make her sacrifice worth it. She got a partnership, *and* she never had to be subjected to that filmy, leering gelatinous dickpimple again. Win.

Oh, for sure. I am aware of all of that. If one wishes to hate Oliver North, there are ample valid reasons to do so.
I was curious as to why Juan Jamon was "Legitimately angry Oliver North had anything to do with this show" A main story line right now has been what went down in Nicaragua. North was deeply involved

Why? He was a key player in Iran-Contra. He was THE guy. He sat in front of congress and took the fifth. (FIFF!) Anyone's politics aside, he has special insight and knowledge into that whole "affair". I feel like he contributed something in the proximity of authenticity to those scenes.
