Wow. He took one of the most beautiful cars ever (the DB5) and helped make it easily among the top five greatest film/television cars of all time. For that alone, he deserves our praise and gratitude, and wishes for a peaceful rest.

Ha Ha. Yeah, his name is similar to the GoT author. Time to move on, smart-asses.

I work in radio. At least at this station cluster, we still use minidiscs a little.

I'll take it back on Monday. Who knows, you might eventually get that copy!

I'm currently reading Shatner's new book about his 50+ year friendship with Nimoy. Nothing revelatory yet, but charming as one would expect.

Holy crap. The felt markers written directly on the film to try and simulate the special effects. My buddies and I did that for our Super 8 Star Trek movie. Ah, being a kid in the '70s.

Maybe a few more Hope & Crosby, and a little less Mike Myers…?

Joe frickin' Patroni. Rest peacefully, sir.

Well, I had always wondered if I had a line, and where it would be drawn. That subplot gave me some tentative directions to said line.

The Mickster was the first to put a ring on Ava Gardner, before Artie Shaw or Sinatra. Ya gotta hand it to him for that alone.

"That's what I want…"

You know, it didn't look quite kinescope-y enough for me, but I too loved the hand-cranked credits. Rob Heubel's hair not being truly conservative '50's also lost a little of it for me.

Now there's some gluten-normative rhetoric if I ever heard it.

Beat me to it by seconds. Really, what is this? Variety in the 1940's?

It would be "the Chicago Way."

Usually, only around six o'clock in the morning.

I guess when you were once one of a handful of the most famous people on Earth (for a good long time), perspective comes easy.

And, finally, AV Club has become Television Without Pity.

I was pretty meh about this movie, but the highlight for me was the post-credits scene(s). I must have been literally the oldest person in the theater, because I know I was the only one who reacted to the reference as soon as DP poked his head around the corner. That felt weird.

Interesting. Thanks.
