Are there still ghosts in NYC? I just assumed Giuliani kicked them all out along with the homeless people.

I really hope there's a video out there where someone has replaced the Oh Yeahs in this song with random lines from the original Mortal Kombat arcade.

It's a space travel adventure franchise. If you destroy the mode of travel, it's…

Will they try as hard to hide the upcoming Gorn fight as they tried to pretend Cumberbatch wasn't Khan?

I get emotional at predictable catharsis, and therefore teared up at the end of Krampus, when the boy talks about how much he loves Christmas. And the DS9 episode "The Visitor"… just forget about it. I fell apart.

Yeah, I'm not sure "universal love" is quite accurate. People regularly dis them in the comments. That said, I love them. I also have never cared for Corduroy, which I'm pretty sure is an unpopular opinion. Other than the bridge, I find it boring.

Where was this take on the prequels last week?

How is it that the AV Club keeps pimping the prequels, while io9 is tearing them down? Did they swap writers?

Star Trek Into Darkness… the space travel adventure film that ends space travel with super transporters and negates adventure with magic blood.

Early on, I hit a point of "really, you're going to make this same point over and over for the rest of the film?" When it possessed her I totally lost interest.

I haven't seen It Follows yet, but I definitely agree with House of the Devil. I don't mind a slow build, but that movie is basically a flat line for the first three quarters.

I guess I should admit that I never saw the movie. I worked on a production of the play, so I saw it a few dozen more times than I wanted to. In the original play, the surface thing is an art project, but there's some suggestion that she takes it as far as she does because he occasionally corrects her about some

Don't forget the The Shape of Things, where a heartless bitch of a woman ruins a man's life because she's jealous of how smart he is.

Clearly, the entire Marvel company is bi. They like to have it both ways.

I'm still confused as to who's on first.

My odd compliment for the film: It made me a little nauseous, not from a specific scene, but from the buildup and general atmosphere. I don't usually get off on that from my entertainment, but this worked. Most people who enjoyed Under the Skin should probably check this out (though the horror elements are more

Never before realized how much Fry sounds like Paul Reubens.

Can someone please tell me if this is a McGrath-manipulated-into-being-in-a-movie-unwhittingly thing? I'm listening to the novel, so I can't just flip ahead and look. I enjoy the suspense and the (kinda silly) characters, but if it has some goddamn The Magus/The Game kind of ending I'm going to lose it.

Death Gate was the first series of theirs I read. It still sticks with me, in character and world creation. Haplo was the super angsty version of Tanis that I needed as a teenager (even before I knew who Tanis was).

I was going to say something about cultural appropriation, but those awful backup singers distracted me. How can you be an awful backup singer?
