One of my favorite characters in the whole series.

It's the Fire Flower from Super Mario Bros.

He's the Rob Liefeld of writers.  I touch nothing with his name on it.

Yeah, Maria Hill is the Director, I believe.  Probably won't be long before he takes over, though.

They must have just figured, "Eh, fuck it.  Everyone knows why we're getting rid of his eye, let's be meta about it."

I was 8 years old in 1989, so I didn't read Sandman until much later.  I've been into superhero comics since I was about 10, but I didn't read Sandman until my late 20's, so I probably have a different perspective on it than people who read it when it first came out or as teenagers.  Not that I love it any more or

Ready Hy Bender's Sandman Companion for a couple great Gaiman/Moore stories.
EDIT: Also, Etrigan was in fact Created by Jack Kirby in the '70's, as was the Sandman of that era, who shows up in A Doll's House.

I totally agree with all this.  Dee shooting the carjack victim is one of those, "I know he's going to do it because I've read this, but he seems like he's going to let her go so I hope—nope, she's dead now.
As for the changing face of Morpheus, there's a story that partially takes place in San Francisco, and Delirium
