I honestly thought the movie was only compelling simply because of Moore's frighteningly dead-on portrayal of Sarah P. I think Moore runs lukewarm and cold, but that performance transcended Vegas-style impersonations and became downright creepy in its accuracy.

In her defense, I saw her outside a restaurant in Hollywood a couple weeks ago (no, not name dropping, it's on topic) and her appearance has improved dramatically. A vast improvement over her "Fat Actress" days, wihtout a doubt.
