Haha…  I only heard a bit from the album but the thing that struck me was how amateurish it sounded.  Most R&B is so smooth and polished that it barely resembles human emotion which is really a shame since that was once what R&B did best.  So to hear it in this form sort of makes it novel I think.  I liked it.  And if

@A.Salieri - Do you know how many singles/songs that James Brown released that were the laziest pieces of junk ever?  A ton!  And Dylan has put out plenty of going-the-motions releases in his lifetime.  Many of those were critically treated like the greatest thing ever too.  Critics are insane sometimes.

@pointforward - Well that's just like your opinion, man.  I and many others think that stuff was great.  And it was better and more original and more exciting than many other things happening at the same time.   It was it's own thing and at the very least

Ha.  I meant to put in "Place in the Country."

@A. Salieri - I'm not sure this article was about the influence Adam Ant had.  It was about his music and it's impact at that time.  You may not have heard or maybe didn't appreciate his early albums… but they certainly were some of the best of their era and deserve as much respect or consideration as the similar

This rule could be applied to every single musical act in the history of recorded music though.  Why talk about anything then?

My top 10 Adam Ant songs…
1.  Beat My Guest
2.  Antmusic
3.  Stand and Deliver
4.  Dog Eat Dog
5.  Prince Charming
6.  Friend or Foe
7.  Los Rancheros
8.  Desperate But Not Serious
9.  Friend or Foe
10.  Kings of the Wild Frontier

$325,000 Canadian = $327,489 American!?!?!?  Thanks Obama.

AVClub staff meeting in their 'posh' Chicago offices to discuss next weeks AVQ&A and to pool their pocket change so they can buy a package of Oscar Mayer bologna to share post-meeting in the alley behind 7-11.

I hate this feature.  The song sucks and always has.  Way to go out on a limb Mr. Whoeveryouare.

@avclub-c1fe85b855c6d045b827f74a1e2c3fd7:disqus  knows cookies but perhaps he doesn't know angry?  I'm not angry.  I'm the creator of White Benson.  I hear Chevy is fun to work with and my people will get in touch with his people.

I agree.  White people are horrible and the cause of all of the world's evils.  Surely a sitcom will come along to change all that.  Here's my pitch:

Is this the "Some of my favorite actors are Indians" defense?

Also to blame:  The Wayans bad sense of humor.

What about a predominately Indian cast?  Oh that's right… you people didn't like Outsourced.

I sort of agree.  But of course there is a connection.  Just like you said 'our culture fetishizes violence.'  That's why violent movies are so popular.  It's why many of the most popular video games are super graphic violence and some are just cartoony violence.  But it's still an 'angry bird' that's knocking that

The word 'funny' is mentioned 3 times… but the word 'depressing' is not mentioned once.  I think it's somewhere in between myself.
