Well then you probably missed some great commentary on this inside the book itself. This was not a jingoistic book to serve as Bush era propaganda by a long shot.

That's a big part of it. I used to read primarily Marvel Comics as a kid… then I narrowed that down to X-Men and Avengers comics… then it became so expensive it just became Avengers comics… and then I'd pay $4 for an issue I could read in about 5 minutes with multiple splash pages and action moving at a snail's…
I actually tore up the 2nd issue and threw it away and never bought another comic book since. Bendis wasn't helping over in the regular titles. I was a huge long time Avengers fan too.
It was the primary inspiration for doing the show… but it was never a Walker, Texas Ranger parody thanks to the involvement of Chris Elliot. This show has more in common with Chris' Action Family special than it has anything at all to do with Walker.
Nobody should read Bendis Avengers ever. It's awful and goes nowhere.
Why do you constantly insist that this show is some direct send-up of Walker, Texas Ranger? It isn't! The constant comparisons and references to Walker in these reviews are overplayed. Besides the cowboy hat… how are the shows alike in any way?
Yeah really. That's the movie I always associate with this guy more than anything.
Never heard of this guy and I didn't read the article. But the picture makes it look like maybe he played bass in Third Eye Blind?
The movie is controversial because it finally addresses the use of the word 'white' as a pejorative.
"Very na-ice!" - Michael Scott
Is that a dove on the head of the maid in the background? Spirit guide I assume.
Definitely. That's my favorite of the the George/Ringo collaborations too. Although… I've always loved "Wrack My Brain" for some reason. The Concert for George is one of the greatest concert movies of all time.
I highly recommend picking up the latest Ringo best of… I think it's called Photograph. It has all the early singles plus later singles that are actually incredibly good. I'm talking about stuff from the last 20 years even.
Flowers in the Bottom
That's true! I have a bootleg of the James Paul McCartney Special but it would be nice to have a cleaner version. I can't wait until the world at large gets to be emotionally scarred by "Gotta Sing/Gotta Dance."
"Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" technically… unless this stream is just the first part.
DVD Bonus Feature - The Scoring of the Lone Ranger:
I hope Alyssa Milano is Tony Danza's love interest.
Lone Ranger - "Tonto, get down to that stagecoach and save the banker's wife with your medicine man routine. I'll stay here and cover you."
I've seen the episode now! It was great! I'm not sure the reviewer understands this show though. The arguments about the commercials seeming like SNL sketches is completely off. The whole show is a fever dream/drug trip. It isn't meant to make you laugh like a SNL sketch (which they rarely accomplish themselves).
