Do you approach everything with this level of optimism?

Yep. Britishism. Sometimes referred to as English.

Six episodes in and it's definitely feeling like a bit of a slog. The only gag I laughed at in the first two episodes was Michael being voted out of the flatshare. But it took so long to set up that I almost want to take my laugh back.

It may have flitted from 1 to 2 during the releases of the big films I mentioned. And during the period of '95 through to 2000, when it was either n.1 or The Godfather was. But its position has otherwise been consistent. But since you have less faith in IMDB then I do, and I think I pointed out that its system isn't

Good point, well made. But the Sight and Sound poll is for greatest films of all time, and each director/critic only gets to mention 10 films. Shawshank wouldn't be in my top 10, or even top 20. But of the top 50 for just the 90s? I'd argue that it's a no-brainer.

Look, I get that this list is about personal preferences, and that the principal list of 50 is not supposed to be definitive, but rather, a small groups concensus of what was noteworthy during the 90s. And yet it still sticks in my craw that there isn't even a hat-tip for films like The Usual Supects, Silence of the

Biggest sins of omission:
1) The Shawshank Redemption (yes it gets plenty of love thanks to its perhaps dubious placement as n.1 on IMDBs all time Top 250 list, but over exposure doesn't stop it being a great film)
2) The Usual Suspects (it's right up there with LA Confidential and Out of Sight)

Why exactly did they feel compelled to separate the cast by gender when doing the roundtable?
