A Wild Sheep chase by Murakami — man is it weird. I love his style, it's dreamy and bland but bland in the best way, he lulls you into things (as in The Wind Up Bird Chronicle). But in this one, he doesn't have much to tease out and it's been a bit of a slow read for me

I was underwhelmed by Goon Squad, it didn't hold up as a cohesive story for me, just a few disparate stories loosely tied together

want to know how to get published? start your own publishing house. well-played, Eggers

every time I start this I just think Teti is John Hodgman during his Apple pitchman days

she's right. in my neighborhood in brooklyn there's a place that's terrible Old Italian and it is a total front for the mob. then there's this

exactly, the look on Ren's face as he's smashing the hammer into the Happy Helmet to get it off, just made me laugh out loud at my desk. Pure brilliance.

Call the police.

wrong. see Dyer's Eve for just one example of his amazing drumming. This line really bugs me. You think Metallica got to be the biggest metal band in history with a shitty drummer? Fucking nonsense.

this show has really gone downhill. It used to be very funny, now it's just boring.

did you know Turkel would go out and buy most of those people drinks and record their conversation at a bar? I love that detail, as a few drinks in anyone will usually get them to open up about what they do everyday

yep, send out as many as you can all at once. Then tell any agent interested whatever they want to hear. They are to a one lying corrupt pieces of shit who are only there to take their cut. Tell them they are the only one you are dealing with and deal with as many as you can up to the point of signing with one. Never

^^^ see above, man ^^^

This song gets in my head several times a week as I happen to have a Toto toilet in my apartment

no shit? I had no idea

This movie haunts me. I must have seen it at the exact right moment when I was 7 or so and it just seemed like the whole fucking world was coming apart. "Surrender" had a huge deal to do with that, but listening to it today I realize the song itself isn't really about any kind of teenage angst. But it has that feel.

Mommy's alright. Daddy's alright. They just seem a little weird.

I completely agree, that is my favorite line of that brilliant song

yeah, I hadn't seen Elderly Woman and it's my favorite PJ song, so I had to do this….

Been a PJ fan since Ten and I'm in on all their albums, so I'm gonna try to limit this but it's hard:

don't you dare bring Jonathan Franzen into this!
