can I add:
—the long drawn out scene rather early in the book with Hal on lockdown in his apartment and the ritual he goes through to get rid of all his bongs and pipes and smoking paraphernalia and the paranoia and unease of waiting for his dealer to arrive so he can start the whole binge-smoking deal again? I fucking

I'm about 60 pages from finishing The Boys in the Boat, about the US crew team who went to the 1936 Berlin Olympics. I don't usually read non-fiction sports stories, but this one is fucking great, I am totally hooked. it does a masterful job of getting you invested in the guys on the team, with the main character just

I liked Fortress of Solitude also, so wanted to read Chronic City. Having finished it now I totally agree with you about the ending. It was terrible. I don't need everything tied up, but at least the mysteries and questions the book itself raises should be answered in some way, I feel. And this didn't even try.

Yeah, Robbins is great if you catch him at a certain moment in your life when whimsy is needed/appreciated/not killed by the dullness of responsibility.

I'm have about 20 pages to go in Chronic City by Jonathan Lethem? Anyoneon here read it? I have my thoughts but would love others' feedback before I tip my hand.

I also loved Were the Millers, so you take your dreck and shove it up your pie hole Jenni Miller

oh my god, I am as big a S-K fan as there is and I can't even watch 20 seconds of this. My fears are becoming clearer that they are going to jump the shark really soon now, and I will blame Carrie. Thank god the new record is amazing. Can't they just stick to that rather than this shameless starfucking?

fuck yeah it's great. I have always wished I could have been a fly on the wall in their studio when they laid down the opening fuzz to The Fox, I bet they all had huge shit eating grins on their faces as that room just fucking throbbed with that riff.

after ravaging Carpathia in the 1520s and then moving on to become the "Sorrow of Moldavia," Vigo tried his hand at using negative mood slime on NYC in 1986 via a baby named Oscar and a stilted Sigourney Weaver. After failing in his attempt due to the Ghostbusters, he did find new life in Russia as a moody lead

I just love this. Thanks.

so I know pumpkin beer has it's fans on here, and the other day I tried an Avery Rumpkin — anyone had that? holy hell it was so strong, it really put me off. I don't usually like pumpkin or any other flavor getting in my beer, but as this was Avery, my favorite brewery, I gave it a try.

If you don't get Six Point IPA in Minnesota, try that. It's very NYC and in any bar worth it's salt these days. Lagunitas has a great IPA, made in Cali, but you can find it in NYC bars too. Lots of Six Point brews are great so I would tell you to try them all. Have fun!
