Oh so it's an *historical* drama? That explains why it apparently doesn't know how the modern news business works, then.

I don't think it's all that complicated. Warner was looking for a director with a fresh perspective to continue where Columbus had left off. Cuaron had just released an award-winning foreign drama and his previous releases showed he could direct English-language literary adaptations to critical acclaim. Tonally,

Said exec was probably thinking more about the wonderful Little Princess.

But wouldn't that have been more effective if Bobby had been allowed to fully make that mistake (either by the writers, or by the Winchesters, who could have used Bobby to their advantage) instead of pulling back at the last minute? I wouldn't have *liked* that, but I would have preferred that over the cop-out we got.

Sorry, @avclub-c1157e014cb8cbad68dc66c95cbd1f1b:disqus , I don't buy it. That exact same sentiment was espoused by crazy old Frank, and the writers could have easily made Dean "get it" without the lesson being driven home by Bobby, too. They could have also taken a page from Fringe (or earlier Supernatural at its

Like Sunrise SwimsuitSeason says, I counted the Campbells as "other hunters".

No, I like that Dean's final scene has him threatened physically, whereas Sam is threatened emotionally. He's not used to working alone for long stretches of time. Except for that one alternate timeline that I'm not sure "actually happened" in one of the trickster episodes, he's always hooked up with some other

So that whole Bobby storyline was kind of pointless. Unless they intend on bringing him back a second time, what was the narrative point of having him hang around for the second half of the season? He had a good send-off the first time around. Having him almost go vengeful only to be pulled back in the span of one

@avclub-eac75edc18b8546c46893fe4b75ab995:disqus : You're welcome to your interpretation of the characters if that's what it takes to get you to enjoy the show, but I have my doubts that "they don't know any better" is a majority position. From everything we've seen of these guys, they *do* know better, they just don't

You appear to be watching a different Always Sunny than I do. In my Always Sunny, all the main characters are horrible, horrible people. Charlie, who is a retard with a problematic childhood, may be the only exception, but he, too, can be a terrible person. Mac is a virulent homophobe, Dennis is a complete sociopath,

@avclub-eac75edc18b8546c46893fe4b75ab995:disqus : Are there any non-awful people in the main cast (or even the extended cast) of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia? That show makes it work.

How is what you describe at all different from what the MPAA does? They also gave the Weinsteins an explanation of their decision and a choice: cut the bad words and we'll give you a PG-13. The only difference between the two examples here is that the distributors of The Hunger Gamers were cowards and backed down, but
