I've been reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. I usually dislike historical fiction but she really brings out the incredible seediness of the 16th century. Can't wait to finish and start on the 2nd book in the trilogy.

Thanks.
Thanks.
So, I was just introduced to Shellac a few months ago via that terrible AV Club Undercover version of "Prayer to God." I've picked up 1000 Hurts and love it. What's the best next step? Big Black? Earlier Shellac?

Dredd was better than The Dark Knight Rises? Really?

Good news. This show is promising; hopefully it actually improves into something worthwhile after they make Rayna sleep with Deacon during sweeps.

Sure. By "downward trend in quality" I actually mean "change in style that I don't like as much." I saw them live on the "Songs for the Deaf" tour then again after "Era Vulgaris"; it's a different band, so of course they sound different. I'm just being nostalgic really.

Oh, I don't know about that. I like that it sounds trashy. They're a trashy-kind-of band.

This is probably the best thing I have read all year. I'm going out and buying the new Future of the Left album again, for a friend. Fucking amazing.

Yeah. I like "Lullabies" and "Era Vulgaris," but I think there's been a general downward trend in quality. I just miss the batshit-hardcore songs, and the general live show craziness, and I think maybe Josh gets a little self-indulgent when he's in full control.

^this. His solo albums have been decent, surprisingly.

Now they just have to get Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri back in the fold. Is it just me or has QOTSA not been as good since Nick left?
