But that's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Oh damn, apparently Disqus ate my comment from earlier:

Brantley really started pissing me off when he shat on both Newsies and the new Cinderella for being too kid-friendly and not sophisticated enough for his la-di-da tastes.

I'm kind of surprised they bothered with Sturridge.  Who on the Orphans team is sleeping with the Tony board?

He is for a certain taste…not mine…

@avclub-9d9fb789a27aa62db7511f14660acf86:disqus , I've watched that opening number more times than is healthy.

@avclub-02c1dd6ad234773aeffd7f7067784d58:disqus  was that Isherwood or Brantley?   I like Isherwood a lot better; Brantley's really getting on my nerves lately.  I think he's too jaded for a lot of musicals now.

I think the Hiddleston fangirls are so fascinating, because he is a very talented actor clearly hamming it up as Loki, and that's awesome.  But his wig is awful, and even out of character I don't find him that objectively handsome.   But he's SO good at what he does!

Me too, but would the existence of lesbians make it more or less complicated to fund?

I think that was actually Harry.

That's not true, but you go ahead and keep thinking that.

It's changing, @avclub-02c1dd6ad234773aeffd7f7067784d58:disqus .   Because so much of Steppenwolf has been transferring.     I've just started reading Terry Teachout; I like him a lot.

@avclub-02c1dd6ad234773aeffd7f7067784d58:disqus   I know!  I was sad when I read all the obituaries/eulogies, even though I wasn't a huge fan of her work.

Different strokes, @avclub-16db446cafb1ffb1466e71eaf97a4f49:disqus   There's no reason to watch it if you don't like musicals, but it's a wonderful show if you do.

Letts and Morton are huge deals in the Chicago theater scene, BTW.   Lotta stuff from Steppenwolf transfers to Broadway, and NY critics are "shocked" every time that the Second City is actually good at theatre.

Testament of Mary is closing already???   Holy crap.   Fiona Shaw is amazing and I've heard great things about the book.  Rough market, huh?

1)  All the reviews I read of Lucky Guy suggested that they all love Nora, but this one needed some more work.   I love Hanks, but I'd really rather see it go to Tracy or David.

Whatever, you hater, I'm really excited for Kinky Boots!   Annaleigh Ashford is amazing.  (And humble, for a Broadway baby.)

I was pissed off at first too, but someone made the good point that in order to fairly evaluate all 4 Matildas, you'd have to see the show 4 times, and that's asking a lot from Tony voters.

And the score was written by Trey Anastasio from Phish!
