She gets such wonderful mileage out of the bitch character, and yet it never seems like she's bitchy to overcompensate for insecurity — she's insecure and she's a righteous bitch.  Awesome.

Then he will clearly shrivel up and die of irrelevance…

I….don't really think you have an accurate understanding of who qualifies as children.

If she doesn't think that, why did she imply it?

I wrote a similar comment, not seeing yours.   This bothers me too.  It sounds unintentionally racist — let's make fun of the funny foreign guy singing the foreign funny song!  LOL that's not real music!

@avclub-df723a364b70e18bb8fa82dcbcc2db91:disqus   I hope we never stop quoting Amanda Palmer "poetry" at inappropriate times.  It's the best way to make use of her contribution to the world.

Oh boy, Digimon?

"And some people might say “Gangnam Style.” We’ll see how that guy’s career pans out. "

I laughed out loud, then felt guilty, then laughed again.  Nice job.

Silent to the Bone is chilling, in all the best ways.  She gets male teen puberty so right while also writing an intense mystery novel.  I don't know how she does it.

Outstanding.  I hope Gary X is taking note.

@avclub-d287ab72140b44071e69e6255b859cec:disqus  Don't say that!  I love Britta!

I was disappointed it wasn't discussed in the review!  I love DWJ, and I would consider buying this for her story alone.   And I do like Gaiman, in small doses.

She has several short story collections, the most recent of which includes a beautiful novella "Everard's Ride" that she wrote decades ago but never got published.  It's proof that longer stories CAN have place in anthologies, if they're tight and they match the themes well.

@avclub-1bcaea6d00884aeafe0c076bd322f825:disqus   She is a talented musician (or was, I haven't heard anything beyond Dresden Dolls, which I used to love) with a huge fan base.  But she also makes a lot of provocative/mediocre art "for art's sake" but which comes off as attention-grabbing.

That's the worst part, where she and her fans claim sexism is driving the hate.

She also refused to listen to the very legitimate and respectful criticism she got from musicians all over the country, classifying it all as hate.  There were plenty of people bashing her, but she pulled a classic non-apology in her response.  At least she paid people what they were owed.

I didn't read the novel, but I also gave up watching halfway through.   I'll read it eventually, I can see how it would be worth all the raves.

@avclub-c701a997d9bef627835b036efb4eca63:disqus  I stopped giving a shit about mean-spiritedness related to Palmer when she blatantly refused to care about the musicians she was cheating out of money.  You don't have to be pro-union to not be a dick.
Whatever, I'm fine with being a hater in this case. :)

Yeah, I loved the Dresden Dolls.  This just makes me sadder and sadder.  I'm not even disgusted, just tired of her shit.
