man that would be amazing

I used to read a ton of Philippa Gregory in high school/college.  I agree that she is kind of hacky and a little blinkered in her examination of male power and female desire/confusion, but I don't think she's terrible.   She knows her demographic and is working it, sure.

I don't have anything particularly Reasonable or Intelligent to add, I just love this song.

Sweeney Todd was offensive if you loved the original musical.  If you hadn't seen it, you probably just wondered why Johnny Depp was singing so weirdly.

I liked Corpse Bride a lot better upon my second viewing.  It did some neat things with morbid humor, and I thought the initial scene with the ring was done well.
I suspect people's expectations were way too high for it.

I heard through the industry grapevine that Cars 2 was kind of a vanity project for John Lasseter.  It was going to get made regardless of the incredible amount of bank it made.

Oh, preach.   I actually wrote AG an angry-feminist-teen letter when I heard about the change.   Now that they're backing away from the historical aspect entirely (most of the older dolls have been retired), it seems my younger self was totally right.  :(

I feel like we have very similar tastes in everything.  :)

@avclub-b9a25e422ba96f7572089a00b838c3f8:disqus   I know, I know.  I really liked a lot of season 5.   I'm no RTD apologist, I'm just tired of Moffat's sexist shit.

I really wish I could have seen Equus.  The subject matter squicked me out a little, but I heard great things.

I've said this elsewhere:  I was absolutely blown away by his performance in The History Boys.   I remain amazed that he could make the character of an elitist pedophile sympathetic — or at the very least, complex and tragic.

yeah but seasons 1-4 are so much better.

I quit watching Who because I can't handle Moffat any more.  I loved Amy and Rory as characters and HATED the story arcs he wrote for them.  I gave up on series 6.

nope, Taylor wrote "Speak Now", which is all about debating whether to barge into the wedding of her ex and refuse to "forever hold her peace"

Oh, totally.   I remember dreaming about finding a cute older boy like Ben.  They don't make 'em like the Patriots any more… ;)

I am all over this thread today!   The Fey/Poehler reaction made me really sad, because Amy is such a feminist that Taylor's butthurt made no sense at all.

Felicity, what a badass.  I bet she'd have been an abolitionist too, if she'd lived in Addy's time.

I think her main problem is that she's matured her fashion sense but not her attitude.

I was surprised to find I really enjoyed her on SNL too.   Maybe if she took herself less seriously in general, it would be easier to like her as a person.  I like her music and I don't care if that means I have no taste.  But in interviews….yeah.  Problem.

That is so accurate.   Felicity clearly had a ton of money for Colonial Williamsburg, but she didn't let that stop her from being a proto-feminist tomboy and having crazy adventures with horses and cute teen boys who worked for her dad.  She'd have no patience for Taylor and her endless drama.
