yes, I say this all the time and will probably repeat it in this thread, the 30 Rock pilot is not a bad pilot.  People who say that are probably justfying getting on the bandwagon late [or, like TDVW, weirdly talking about the unaired pilot as if that matters].  It's got a ton of funny bits; enough to justify

It's not dopey— the action is far away and usually blocked by cameras and personnel.  That's why the monitors are there.

College groups use it for fundraising.  It's important to note that lots of shows pay their audiences, and the audiences are made of people who want to make whatever peanuts are being paid — homeless people, crazies, and college kids.

I was surprised to find I like that show too.  It's not always great, but when it's good, it's largely because of pros like him and Louis-Dreyfus.  Definitely an underrated show to catch in syndication.  Now it's fun seeing him in serious roles.

Also, some trivia: this guy is married to Jennifer Grey.

The Liev Schreiber /MRI machines sketch is fantastic.

“Let me tell you straight up,” he says to Eric. “I was 18 when I went to college.”

I remember this too, from an earlier age, and it left me with the strong impression that six weeks of occasional track running would erase a lifetime's problem with weight and self-esteem.

jalopy was completely mystifying in the mid-eighties or so, when I read them. They had a "jalopy" in Trixie Belden, too.

    don't believe the hype
Oh of course now everyone is rooting for Sasha. This always happens in reality tv — late-breaking contestant with "growth" comes out on top of the consistent frontrunner. (Sabra beating Danny, anyone? Jeanine? Lauren vs. Kent?) Sasha is just as limited in expression as Melanie, but no one

That's what HE would have said.
It's probably too late, but every time I pop in the season 3 DVD I keep meaning to poll the group on the best cold open the show ever did. Since there's a thread above about best moments, and there won't be another chance, anyone wish to vote? I gotta go with the mustache from

    But I have the MEGAphone
I think I've been reading these things since before Arcade was my avatar. It's been an honor and a pleasure.

DR, where do you think homeless people sleep? Home?

If you looked like Amy Poehler and worked in a government building in a small town in Indiana, and a smart hottie like Adam Scott walked through the door — nothing doing. You'd be on that like Perd doin' the worm.

Minshew has always seemed to have anorexia hair to me. It's disturbing.

Of COURSE you hate Mark Sheppard
I almost want to like this episode since Phil's reviews have been so pointlessly antagonistic, but I have to admit, this plot had some flaws. But who cares? What was the thing about Westen's teeth?!

Talented dancers, undoubtedly, but something about the choreography felt like high school talent show.

That's the worst she's done on the show, which isn't saying much.

In my mind I've worn it a thousand times.
that leather jacket just tells me the end is near. It almost looks kinda fashion-forward on Lisa.
