He thinks serialized TV didn't start until The Sopranos. He ignores how TV has begun telling stories about a much more diverse group of people in the last few years. You can tell that he really doesn't watch many shows at all. If you're going to write something about TV as a whole, you can't just cherrypick like this.…
I think some of the flashbacks make more of a statement than "oppression is bad". Specifically the one where Moira argues with Luke about how culpable men like him are for what's happening.
