I kind of preferred Snyder's reveal because it was a little more straightforward and didn't bring in a ton of New Gods history into a Batman story, but I agree that it's similar.

I liked the reveal.  What's funny is I originally hated the "Dick was going to be an immortal assassin" reveal, but this one works for me for some reason.  It's similar to what Morrison did with Dr. Hurt, but I kind of like this one better because it's a little simpler.  I didn't love Morrison tying all the New Gods…

It's weird that they almost immediately adapted him but waited years for Harley.  Although, I remember kind of liking that initial Chuck Dixon storyline.  Now I really prefer the weird ass stuff that Doug Moench and Kelley Jones were doing in Batman at the same time, though.
