(applause)

This is why I like the new threading - it lets a Stephen King discussion unfurl out of a Robert Pollard discussion.

Prizes
The winner should be allowed to destroy a civilized planet of his or her choice.

Fletcher Hanks
Hi Paul,
Thanks for stopping by the site. I'd love to know what the changes to the second edition will be, if you're willing to share details.

Cthulhu Family Circus
Yeah, I looked for that too, but from what I can tell it's gone.

of elephants and bass players
Here's a segment taken out of the long version of the interview:

RE: The elephant in the room…
Alan and Mimi declared nothing verboten - indeed, they were very open and willing to talk about pretty much anything. Matt has a few quotes in a much longer earlier draft of the interview, but mostly he let his bandmates do the talking, and unfortunately what he did have to say ended up

Robyn's Best
Well, obviously I'm going to say that Trains is his best album, but here's a quick ranked list of my personal favorites:

the scrolly thing
I'm not sure, but I like to think it's a little graphic symbol representing the Declaration of Independence. Because we love America that goddamn much.

Crazy Beast
Just to clarify for the record: Above, Andrew mentions recording the album at Third Ear, and it should be noted that the majority of the work on the album was done at Minneapolis studio Crazy Beast, with additional work done at Third Ear and Pachyderm Studios, among others. Here's a link to the myspace

prog, etc.
Juketea: There was a glitch when this was first posted, but my author's credit should be showing up shortly. Thanks for noticing.

Lost
I thought "Gilligan's Island" was the precursor to "Lost."

Suzuki
I admit to not being intimately familiar with the Suzuki method, and made the reference in the intro to the interview because I thought it's interesting that Bird has been playing with a high degree of technical proficiency from a young age. Proficiency by itself means little if a musician doesn't have talent

Kato
For what it's worth, it's not like we snubbed Kato. We love him too. That's why I wrote that "few people, sidekicks or not, are cooler than Bruce Lee." Should he have had his own entry in the list? In retrospect, yes, absolutely. But he's not forgotten.

Gareth
Gareth was funny in large part because he had no idea how ridiculous he was. Yeah, the writers of the show intended him to be funny, but the character himself was totally unaware.

Jeeves
I'm kicking myself for forgetting to think of Jeeves, but I imagine that his innate dignity and humility would lead him to decline the honor of being on this list, in deference to Bertie's feelings. He'd simply raise one eyebrow, say "I hardly think that would be proper," and refill everyone's tea.

But Zach… That IS the original question.
