I'd say since his turn in Animal Kingdom, he's been getting more attention than ever: roles in The Dark Knight Rises, Killing Them Softly etc

Um…. nothing? Lint?

Hmmm… how much for the Durutti Column reel?

She was not as gazunger-esque as some in the Meyer crew - but she was lovely to behold, a dusky beauty redolent of cinnamon and sunsets and now I'm talking like Z-Man, already. She was awesome, truly.

It was not a significant tex-

Third-ed. The BBC adaptation was pretty tepid, and about half the casting was perfect, the other less so.

Gene Wolfe's Urth of the New Sun.

Saw this with some buddies about 20 years ago. We were on a Russ Meyer/trash kick, and this was kind of a left-turn for us. I'm not sure if we turned to each other and said "well, that was an unexpected pleasure: wry, understated and erotic", but it was.

Yep, my impression as well.

Having seen the documentary Until the Light Takes Us, what's odd about this murderous, church-burning, racism-spouting loon is just how considered, sane and smart he seems. And yes, how like cosy monastic retreats Norwegian prisons appear to be.

I saw the LC rhythm section do a workshop at a guitar expo in Sydney back in the day. They just set up and jammed for half an hour - it was fun, if a little lazily conceived. There was no "and this is a paradiddle"/"this is slap-bass" guff, just plug-in and blow the punters' minds.

Stereolab were a little bit too pop, a little too tuneful, to count as post-rock, methinks. Plus, they had girls in the line-up. Not an obvious look for a post-rock band, on reflection.

One of the most painful memories of my childhood was being told by my mother that I wasn't getting a Shogun Warrior for Christmas, because she'd "checked one out and it was too plastic". I mean, c'mon mum! They weren't fashioning those fuckers from pine harvested from the slopes of Mount Fuji!

Friday: went to a reunion gig by The Hangovers, a Sydney ska band. Not a ska fan really, went with some friends who had been in an early version of the band. It was fun, but kinda weird seeing several generations of skins and rudeboys gathered: the fresh-faced, edgy, scary boys and their chilled-out reggae loving

Ahh, I was being flippant. I loved BT, hated BB. Except for the BJ.

So it's exactly like the Brown Bunny?

Even bad stop-motion is watchable; bad-to-medium CGI just makes me die a little.

John McVie's choice in clothing says "I'm rich, I'm old, I give precisely no fuck". He looks like he just stumbled in from a night pirating oysters. Bless him.
