LOVE Krakauer.  I need to reread "Banner," which I picked up for a song when our local Border's went out of business.  My favorite, though, is still "Into Thin Air," which is gripping nonfiction at its finest.

My hold of the first book in the series finally came in, but I haven't been able to make myself start.  If I have limited time to read because of my work and my toddler, do I even bother?  I'm all for smut, but if it's a waste of time, I can probably find different, better smut.

I was thinking about picking that up at our local Redbox today.  Now that I've read that little anecdote, I have extra motivation!

Her talents were evidently wasted at Entertainment Weekly.  Good for her!

I read that they have the full dance sequences for each solo performance, each of which lasted 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.  So…I will be purchasing this DVD.

What did you think of Magic Mike?  What was your screening like?  Any rowdy women, like in mine?

FINALLY.  I kept waiting to see if anyone else went to see (or would admit that they saw) Magic Mike.  I really enjoyed it, as I noted above under Scrawler's entry. But I think the ad campaign, while savvy, was misleading.  The movie is much more serious, especially in its second half, than the ads would have you

(Apologies for copying this from the Magic Mike review, but I didn't realize it was kinda a dead thread at that point.)

@TaumpyTearrs:disqus I'm sure you know about these options already, but you might want to see if you could take classes at Christopher Newport and transfer those credits over.  CNU was a joke when I was a kid in Williamsburg, but it's really upped its game the last few years.  There's always Thomas Nelson, but I'm not

Ways to tell that you are at a screening of Magic Mike:
1. Just before the movie starts, the woman (and it WILL be a woman, trust me) in the seat next to you pulls out a dollar bill, waves it at the screen, and tells you, "I'm ready! WOOOO!" I sincerely hope she means "ready for the movie."
2. There is one guy in
