i've wanted to do a tv show for a while now, but the prospect of creating an hour-long dramedy about my life at the school of the art institute of chicago (which increasingly has followed the rhythms of serialized television, for some bizarre cosmic reason) done with the budget and finesse of Breaking Bad or Mad Men

I saw this at the Chicago International Film Festival. It was, in fact, the only film I went to the festival to see.

The Amazing Spider-Man (yes, the newest one) felt almost identical to Ultimate Spider-Man to me, which nobody remembers as having really stilted dialogue and pacing issues in its early going (but it does). To the point that I'm pretty confident the sequel will nail it; the cast and director are absolutely stellar,

Just like James Bond would.

Danny Glover would be a terrible Spider-Man.

Yeah, seriously. Parnassus is fucking great. It's not the most cohesive movie in the world, and around the bit when Lily Cole is being chased by a giant CGI wine bottle it sort of goes a bit iffy, but it's really excellent for the most part.

i literally told a friend who was reluctant to see this that it was "essentially Adaptation by way of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and as such i did a sort of flip take when i read those exact two films side by side, in that order, in this review
