That qualified as a joke?

Setting up Andy as Deegs' father was obviously a misdirect.

Showalter's fine as an actor, there's just no reason he needs to be the protagonist of TYN— regardless of whether he's the protagonist of the movie. All of these characters are parodies of archetypes anyhow so playing him straight doesn't work. And nobody's really the protagonist of FDAC and it works fine.

It was funny when his Emmys were sitting in the background but not when he went back and grabbed one. We got the joke, guys.

Showalter's Reagan is less an impersonation than an interpretation, and it works really, really well. Black's Bush seems like a Stella character. Wain's Clinton is frightening as all fuck and I cannot make heads nor tails of it.

Where was I? Oh, yeah, stay outta my booze!

Diagnosis: Murder was truly a bizarre reboot of his old family sitcom.
