The Old Dogs and Bratz episodes. If you don't enjoy those 2 episodes, then you just aren't going to enjoy the Flop House.

Since the AV Club did away with the X-Factor reviews, I'm just going to go ahead and use this space to comment on the unbelievable train wreck that was the first live show, because it was so amazingly bad that I can't help myself:

Damn you AV Club, you took away my "The Voice" reviews just when it got interesting. Where am I supposed to go now to complain that Avery Wilson got cut, WHERE?!?!?

I was really looking forward to this episode. This season has been so much stronger than the last few years, and the Office usually does Halloween well. And it had Stephen Colbert! How can you possibly go wrong with Colbert?

Yeah, this episode was really strong. In addition to the already mentioned bits, the long digression on Blank Check had me rolling, as did the "Ghost Combos" discussion.

First X-Factor, now this? Where am I supposed to go to discuss the singing shows I guiltily love? Where, AV Club, where??!?!?!?

The battle rounds present a particular challenge in terms of song choice because there's only so much the contestants can do with the song. We've all seen people take seemingly boring and terrible songs and somehow turn them into something interesting by changing the arrangement or doing something funky with it. I

I get why people like Nicholas, but I personally didn't dig him that much. He's good and he's certainly unique, just not my cup of tea.

Honestly, I think the most amazing thing about the show is that it has a way of inexplicably deflating that ironic detachment. It's just so darn genuine, and the judges seem to be actually invested. It (unlike Idol and X-Factor) is actually nice to its contestants, and that goes a long way.

This is perhaps the greatest AVC thread ever.
