This question twists my brain into a pretzel.  These are my 3 favorite current metal bands (Torche would probably be next).  My personal and subjective rankings:

I am not happy they never reunited.  I was too young the first time around and wished Joe would have lived for a reunion.  I saw the Sex Pistols live in 96 and they were AMAZING.

Don't forget Live At Shea Stadium, which is pretty excellent.

I bought the London Calling reissue for The Vanilla Tapes and listened to it…once.  I hope they finally release Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg on this thing.  And the demos from the first album.

I'm 100% with you.  I bought that in college and got an education.  I was obsessed with that set.  I always hated that it had demo versions of Janie Jones and Career Opportunities (I think?)

Check out Beyond and Back - The Anthology on CD.  I believe it was remastered.  My version sounds pretty good.

Hey, for you big time X fans, dig up the song "Delta 88" which was a pre "Los Angeles" track.  I have it on their Beyond & Back anthology CD.  It's the great, lost X song.

The first time I heard the song "Under The Big Black Sun" was on a random punk comp.  I couldn't make out most of the lyrics but I thought it was one of the most uplifting and optimistic songs ever.  I loved it so much I bought the Under The Big Black Sun album.  Then I listened to that song while reading the lyrics

I'll also put in a plug for their "Unclogged" album, which is live and acoustic from like 94 or so.  They sound great.

That Side One is bulletproof.

Legs spread, full grin, never stopped staring into the audience.  Man, every single thing about X is cool.

Trying to reply to Smacky: thanks for the invite!  It'll be like back in the day, when a bunch of us kids are hanging in the corner of the schoolyard with our Slayer jean jackets.

Dude, totally.  Where are supposed to talk about what we're listening to now (i.e. Kvelertak, Anciients, Inter Arma, Deftones, Ancient Vvisdom, Rotting Christ, & Darkthrone, with "Retro Loud" of Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath, Celtic Frost - Vanity/Nemesis, & Nuclear Assault - Survive, plus album I'm dying to

Also - Baroness: Blue Record.

Two bands that I absolutely never would have checked out because of their names, but luckily did anyway: Decrepit Birth and Rotting Christ.  The names are ridiculous, but I find both to be quite tasteful.

I thought the first album was an instant classic.  I saw them live opening for Mastodon and they were fine, but they really didn't blow me away or anything (though it was certainly enjoyable).  I've been put off by the spotty reviews on this new one.  I haven't dug in yet.

Don't touch the mic, like it's canceraids on it.

Where else am I supposed to tell everybody that I completely, madly, head over heels in love with Kylesa? Huh?

Dude, seriously: what the hell?!

Seriously.  This is complete bullshit.  I want my money back AV Club!
