I know it's stating the obvious, but to me nothing touches "Shook Ones Pt. II" & "Survival of the Fittest."

I've resisted the Stones for 20 years because I was sick of the FM Radio saturation.  I recently heard this album for the first time.  Lies & When The Whip Comes Down are pretty damn great.

Yeah, but that means you don't listen to any hop hop.  Even the most casual hip hop fan has heard of Lil Wayne. If you're talking about your garden variety Top 40 pop stuff then I'm with you.

Seems like a safe place to admit this applies to me too.  I like "Waiting Room" and "Repeater" and "KYEO", but the rest…I don't know.  I like a little melody sometimes.  I know this is blasphemy, and I am ashamed.  Sorry everyone.  I'll turn in my punk rock card on my way out.

Tell them to check out "Bonin' In The Boneyard."

Yeah, but we're not them.  We're smart.  We should be above that.

Let's be real, Clinton started this all with the Arsenio appearance in 92.  And history says that appearance and his MTV appearance were brilliant and might have won him the lecetion.  I know it's not 1992 anymore.  I'm a lifelong democrat, I'm just trying to not be a hypocrite, much as I love to bash Bachmann types.

I hate her as well, but I feel like I'd be a hypocrite if I gave the Roots a pass.  I always argue that politics should be more civilized.  Lyin' Ass Bitch is pretty disrespectful, let's be honest.  Song kicks ass though.

?uestlove using the typical pro athlete non-apology apology.

I'm not the first person to say this, but when we hear middle eastern dictators talking about doing what God told them to do, it's acknowledged that they're crazy.  When Bachmann and Bush and Palin talk about God telling them to do things it's… well, still crazy.

They should have played Jane's Addiction's "I Would".  "You say my eyes are crazy eyes."

Celluloid heroes never feel any pain.
Celluloid heroes never really die.

I just remembered that a few years ago my friends and I ran into Paul Sorvino at some restaurant in NYC.  We took a picture with him (he got old, but he's still a real big guy).  He was cool and spoke just like Paulie in Goodfellas ("Ok now boys, let's get together, come on now.  BYOO-ty-ful!").  I remember I asked

I figured it was East Coast, West Coast, and Dirty South.  Geto Boys were really the only southern rap that was nationwide in 1991.*

Second place: "Bust off on your couch, now you got Seamen's Furniture"*

I'm not really adding much to this discussion, but I want to take a moment to say that "Either/Or" is pretty damn fantastic.

Do they have anything after Reality of my Surroundings worth checking out?  I will say the song "Black Flowers," from one of their mid 90s albums, is awesome.

I liked his "National Anthem" single a lot, but that's all I've heard.  I'll check him out.

I hope you're not including "Beef" by Mos Def in that pile, Zombie.

I miss hip hop so much.  I'm down with the singles, but most of the recent hip hop albums I've gotten into have all been old-schooly or hipstery (Big Boi, Doom, Kanye, Action Bronson).  I'll at least check Mac Miller and Drake out based on these reviews.  You guys see the recent Spin feature on like the hottest 50 up
