@LurkyMcLurkerson:disqus The thing is that in an artistic field the "scabs" are a different breed of cat from the classic "dirty blackleg miner", at least in my view.

It's not that he has any inherently wowing physical traits so much as he has a very well-put-together low-key look that gets out of the way and lets his charisma do its thing without any obstacles.

Whatever, when you've gotten to his age and apparent degree of fatigue with all the Hollywood crap — and when you've gotten enough genuine artistic successes under your belt, like Twelve Monkeys and The Sixth Sense, that you don't really have to prove that much to anyone anymore — then yeah, it's perfectly excusable

Social/moral obligations aren't the same as legal obligations but I don't think they're entirely separate categories — legal obligations *become* legal obligations because people get together and decide that a moral obligation is serious enough to enshrine into law.

The reason blowhards like me won't let it just be "end of story" when a deal is struck is because of how important unions and labor power are to the comfortable lives we in the fortunate minority enjoy, and how badly the reputation of unions has been smeared and stained by the forces of evil who are actively trying to

The current state of superhero comic books is a good example of what happens when the suits running things decide the Hardcore 10% is their real audience — and, worse, when the Hardcore 10% join the industry and actually become the suits running things.

Yeah, I'm just saying that these things are complicated and it's not as simple as it would be if people actually sat down at a predefined point in their lives and checked a box "This is what my career will be".

BB has been dead to me ever since that kerfuffle where they "unpublished" Violet Blue quietly and secretively — acting like the creepy Orwellian information-controllers they otherwise gleefully like to shit on — and then gave no clear explanation for why other than the somewhat obvious implication that Xeni and VB had
