I think the overall thing I'm learning here is that I need to reread it.

So he transitions from talking about Lords of Warcraft to "enlisting in the real thing."  Does he think Warcraft is a military game?

Yes, but it was such a success that people still use it as a reference and benchmark.  Earlier today, The A.V. Club headlined a post about The Immortals by referring to it as a 300 knock-off, and it is still recent enough that it likely still gets Miller some clout.

It's been a while since I've read it, but I felt like it was boring, the characters were not at all nuanced, and I wasn't quite sure whether he was criticizing vigilantism or supporting Batman's methods.  I know the standard reading is that he made Batman a crazy reactionary who stomps on constitutional rights, but,

I have a cunning plan: I'll turn out terrible, meritless stories of muscular heroes beating people up and sneering at "law and order," while simultaneously insulting and alienating all of my fans.

SIMPSONS DID IT!

Despite the failure of The Spirit, 300 probably did well enough to assure at least 5 more years of relevance.

I guess now's as good a time as any to say that I never really thought The Dark Knight Returns was anything special.

Warner should release the film by putting each camera cut on a different reel.  That way, if you don't like it, you can take it apart and reassemble it to make something new.

I love how one of the side ads on this story is for the DVD.  I really hope O'Neal made sure that the ad would be there, and that the ad is secretly for a site that sells all the "bad" copies.

That doesn't surprise me. Glad I can work my way into the mind of Randians.

Surely the liberal media is to blame!  First they sunk the film in theaters, now they are trying to subtly poison Rand fans' minds.

Sadly, I don't think this was ever cleared up on Angel.

Somewhat kinda sort of spoilers

Agreed.  I know some people choose to view Season 5 as the end of the series, but as great as The Gift is, her death is not the right place to end the series.  (I guess the fact that I like Seasons 6 and 7 makes this point easier to swallow for me.)

Count the days until his Angel Season 5 reviews.

Any time Angelus or the Mayor is on screen.

A few of the things you mention as off were due to network mandates.  Meg Manning surviving the bus crash was ordered to "lighten up" the fact that 8 people died by having a survivor.  Personally, I don't see the logic there.  Also, Jackie came in because the network wanted a certain kind of character brought in.  Rob

This place IS WEIRD.

I love that, even after all of his development into the smart guy, Sokka can still come up with a dumb-as-hell plan.
