The season was made either right before the TV-on-DVD trend began, or just as it did. I'm guessing that at the time the lawyers made the contracts, the home video considerations weren't standard yet.

The First is a TV exec? Makes sense, I guess.
I agree that I would have been against it for those same reasons. But I would have liked better treatment of him in other ways.
I think it would have been a watchable show at least, but I don't think I would have enjoyed it because I would have known that I could be watching a show about a corrupt Vinnie Van Lowe running Neptune and letting the Fitzpatricks run free. Meanwhile, the Russian mob would be after Veronica and Logan.
Wallace
SPOILERS
As much as I, and the friend who I am about to reference, love this show, and think that, for the most part, the characters are well-written and developed, I feel that they very much dropped the ball with Wallace. My friend once pointed out to me that he has almost no stories of his own and that…
In a different media, I noted that I could guarantee satisfaction for the first season of this show, but could not for the second and third. I still very much enjoy them, but it was clear that Rob Thomas had a very clear vision for the first season and executed nearly perfectly.
Words of Warning
SPOILERS
Selfless marks the second time this season in which a villainous character has given a warning to our heroes as to the bleakness and danger of the coming weeks. In Ground State, the demon who told Angel about the Axis of Pythia commented that he had so much more to lose. This time, D'Hoffryn…
SPOILERS
I choose to watch Party Down as a spin-off in which Dick lost his trust fund and was forced to change his name (out of shame) and become an actor. All the other actors who cross over are strangely identical strangers.
I always thought of this as one of the best pilots I've seen. I thought that the voice-over narration worked well in the context of the show, and having everything start after all the big elements of the season's mystery happened allowed the characters to have very set attitudes built in from the beginning. The next…
So Bad It's…
The first time I saw a commercial for this, I knew it would be awful beyond awful. The question is, is it so bad that it's funny (with some aid from alcohol)? Or is it just so bland and objectifying to women to erode any possible pleasure?
A Real Life Observation Few Will Care About
Making a living ambulance chasing? That may be the best part of this whole premise, as ambulance chasing is a violation of legal ethics! Sure, people do it, I'm not so naive as to think otherwise, but I doubt anyone could make a living off it for too long before getting in…
The way I remember it, the montages were not so bad in the pilot, but got worse as the series went on. My big problem has to do with something Ryan alluded to in his review: the in media res openings, which then cut back to earlier in the story. Like he said, it was used well here, but eventually became a crutch. …
SPOILERS
It is. Go watch MR F.
Maybe it was because I hated the fourth season so much, but I thought that the fifth was not terrible (talk about damning with faint praise).
SPOILERS
I didn't care about most of the new characters, but I felt that the story was back to the show's roots. Also, I like my Sloanes evil; I didn't buy for a second that not…
Because I Must (And Because Arrested Development Reviews Started Today)
Alias is a show about a… spy!
Will
I wish Bradley Cooper would do more characters like Will. I liked the character and found the actor enjoyable. Now, all he plays are assholes, and it's getting tiresome.
Agree re: candy > cocaine
The pilot is by no means weak, but in a show that is all about piling references upon references, of course later episodes, with more material to work with, will be better.
The Hangover III Plot Thread
Amsterdam is what everyone will be expecting. I'm guessing it'll be more like Deliverance, in which Zach Galifiankis' character is marrying a backwoods woman, and the night takes them to some rather disturbing people on the fringes of society. Also Ken Jeong.
