I loved her in the EMeth sketch but she was the only one who didn't do it for me in the Girls sketch. The other characters were nailed PERFECTLY.
EDIT. Someone cleared it up for me. Thanks, commentators!
Larry Sanders is the best finale ever, and had way more Odenkirk to boot.
SNL also wouldn't let Bob fucking Odenkirk on as a cast member, so what chance does Mulaney have?
When the show started I thought Kyle was the main character, simply because he was the only one of the four that had dramatic tension without being psychotic or unintelligible. I still think he should be.
I haven't seen past the season with the Captain. Do they still beat that dead horse? Has she learned to sell that line, at least?
He also hates how Shelly Duvall was reduced to playing a hysterical screaming woman. I think he called the characterization misogynistic.
@avclub-d0cf409eb912cc0cc950b41b6d892d07:disqus Hamm not winning at least once is baffling.
Exactly. Ten year old me had no idea who the fuck David Frost was, but that doesn't mean I didn't like Timmy Williams.
I disagree that the references date Monty Python. It increases the re-watch factor, if anything. Those scripts are so dense, it's hard to unpack it all on one (or two, or three) viewings.
The one thing I've always not understood about this show is how we're not supposed to root for Andre even with all of his horrible choices. He's the only person who usually shows an actual concern for anyone in the group (besides Kevin and Jenny towards each other, and living cartoon Taco). The episodes that pile on…
@avclub-85d8ce590ad8981ca2c8286f79f59954:disqus So glaring that slightly inebriated me had to ask. I did not trust myself that it could possibly be the case.
Was East/West bowl on there? Because that, sub teacher, LMFAO, and Luther/Obama are what first comes to mind of when I think of this show.
If they're spaced out I hope I won't mind it too much.
Pretty sure [unintelligible] was 'fountain drink.'
I was shocked that LMFAO didn't make the best of.
I think the cast chemistry was great, but did they have to repeat so many jokes? I don't mind the names, that's a callback that establishes that he's somehow still in control despite being crazy, but if he's going to be violent to inanimate objects did he really have to do the same exact things he did in the first…
It's up there. Ian Roberts goes a long way in my books… but Comedy Bang Bang is killing it and the Birthday Boys looks like it might be pretty awesome.
Hearing the Bangles do live acoustic renditions on Comedy Bang Bang made me think that they would have been better served by the 90s than the 80s. Those girls can SING. Beatles worthy harmonies.
