Isn't that the stuff that was done without Donner's consent tho? The director's cut might rectify that.

@bradwestness:disqus  I agree. Another reason having him age to 33 in his first movie was a boneheaded choice.

"it probably wouldn't be hard to make a good Superman movie"

@avclub-df80f70f60b1c678f8c91696f4a54f5f:disqus    Bieber = Morrison? Because Bieber has been a strong seller for decades and is respected by his peers?

@bradwestness:disqus  I'm not saying that was a good plot point (although as long as he flies near yellow stars he'd be fine) I'm just explaining how it goes in the comics.

My library is supposed to get in that arc of Action Comics where Luthor starred and had a power ring. Excited.

He stores energy in his cells. That's why his powers gradually increased over time. If he was transported to Apokalips he would lose his powers, but gradually.

When exactly did that become ubiquitous? After Gladiator? I remember not being able to tell what was going on half the time.

@Sleeper99999:disqus I'm pretty fine with it if it's consistant within a creative team run, but I don't care if, say, Grant Morrison wants to disregard some crappy run that came before him.

@avclub-0ae7484a9f3bbd2a21df420050c032ae:disqus At least that wouldn't get my hopes up like this movie did.

@avclub-df80f70f60b1c678f8c91696f4a54f5f:disqus All Star Superman also has some of the best Clark to Superman transitions I've ever seen.

"if he's not written that way, then he isn't." But at times he IS. You're making an argument about a character that has been written and drawn by hundreds of people. Batman has been written poorly at times, does that make him a bad character?

@avclub-0d4efaa2c9d1041eb9b8b5319eec8531:disqus  Openly insulting people (not just me) is not an effective counter argument unless you're on a school yard, in a rap battle, or a politician. I've made several arguments on this page about why I do not like this film, and I've done it while being relatively civil.

@Sleeper99999:disqus  I just mean continuity is never completely fixed and it shouldn't be, else no one would ever be able to do anything new with the characters. As long as you stay true to who the characters are, there's a lot of wiggle room.

You understand that doesn't have any baring on my point, right?

He had a great point that Waid didn't mention, about proving Zod right.

The re-release of Superman 2, cut to Donner's original intentions, is supposedly much, much better than the original.

@Sleeper99999:disqus  Not shitting on you. Just one of those things where if you apply that rigid rule to every story, it really limits what you can do, and it's not like these characters are going away any time soon.

If you want a Superman movie where he barely acts like Superman, then go see Man of Steel.

The guy that everybody in the world who isn't a complete evil lunatic looks up to? Charisma free? Makes sense to me.
