Not his only weakness. Magic too.

It's not that they took a different approach. I'd look at that Mark Waid review if you want the real problems, which can't be discussed without spoilers.

@avclub-df558f247b08c157adc8847bbb1a02a3:disqus I'm pretty sure I got the stinkeye from Doug Benson for something they said. Also, when their seats were empty at one point I heard a loud crash…. as soon as they were seated one whispered "that was embarassing" so I assume karma kicked in and one them fell over.

I was at Pete Holmes and Redacted as well. At the latter I was seated behind two obnoxiously drunk girls that got called out by comedians two seperate times, but they weren't enough to derail my enjoyment.

That whole thing with a 14 year old in a Pete Holmes audience on Tuesday? I was at the Tuesday late show, there was a 13 year old in the front row who wanted to be a "bug killer," and when Pete asked him his name he said "Call me Bronco." I said this elsewhere on a comment page, but the look of pure joy on Pete's face

Gaiman reminds me of Terry Gilliam in one respect: they both love fantasy and don't care about big action set pieces. Once you know that the 'big fight sequence' is not likely to happen, you'll enjoy their work more.

Gaiman has said that Mr Punch is his favorite of his comic works, so take that as you will.

I saw him do stand up in Chicago Tuesday night. It was pretty spectacular, but I think he'd agree that the spotlight was stolen by a 13 year old kid near the front.

SCTV people have often hinted that he was not easy to get along with. Joe Flaherty outright said so on the podcast A Bit of a Chat, and said that he rubbed off on Dave Thomas.

I was kinda underwhelmed by the Patton/Daly episode. I love Dimello in each of his other appearances, so I don't know why.

I think it's worth a listen. If your main problem with Nerdist is them doing bits and the guest not participating, that doesn't really happen. My expectations were sky high and they weren't quite met but other than the SCTV book Dave Thomas wrote, it's the only time I've ever seen him engage as himself.

Why did the Smurfs episode get taken down?

It's really been killing lately. Every single livestreamed show has been really good to great, and every episode for the past 4 weeks would be a strong contender for a top ten.

I hadn't really listened to much of the Nerdist before these last few months, and even then it was only an episode here and there. Sometimes I really enjoyed it, sometimes I somewhat agreed with the commentors who bash it.

Irony or reading comprehension fail?

Hollywood doesn't want to put money behind 'the comedic David Lynch.' He took studio gigs because he could. If Stealing Harvard had been a bigger hit, he probably would have done a passion project by now.

Eric Idle would play women as actual characters sometimes. The instance that comes to mind is the woman discussing condoms in Meaning of Life.

I wanna add something so it doesn't seem like I'm shitting on the State. I actually think a good deal of the projects the State members went on do after the show ended are better than the State itself, and that's kind of a rare thing for a revered sketch group.

95% of Monty Python sketches are better than Porcupine Racetrack. I like the State fine, but they're no MP, KITH, UCB, SCTV, or Mr Show.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but the weird short films were always my favorite part of Kids. It was also what made the show click for me.
