Re: the $40,000 bribe to the MTA official.  In an interview on NPR this morning, Friedkin said the guy wanted $40K AND a one-way plane ticket to Jamaica because he was sure he would be fired if they ever found out he let them film on the train tracks.   Great story.

I'm really happy to see someone else mention this movie.  It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember thinking that it could have been better.  But Richard Pryor, James Earl Jones and Billy Dee Williams in one movie together?  Fun times.

Look for playlists from each episode of MTV's show,120 Minutes, on Google. That would be 1985 to early/mid 90's. That brought back a lot of good memories.

I also saw Neko and Kelly sing this as the encore at an outdoor venue after the sun had just gone down.  I was with my daughter, and we were standing just a few feet from the stage, so I can definitely relate to to that being an unforgettable moment.

My favorite R.E.M. one-two punch is "Begin the Begin" and "These Days" from Life's Rich Pageant.
