I've listened to the "patter" song at the end of the PFT episode three times now because I find it both jaw-droppingly impressive and hilarious. How in the hell do they DO that?!

The only novelty cookbook I own is The Sopranos Cookbook. It's a seriously good cookbook! I especially love the simple recipes, like Sunday gravy and pasta fazool.

Agreed on Raichlen's Barbecue Bible. Reading that helped me to finally stop ruining chicken and burgers on the grill!

I was in Strasbourg a few months ago, and really enjoyed the local stuff. Le Grincheux (The Grinch, or Grumpy, Bar) has a fantastic selection of beers, bourbons (I counted at least 80), and rums.

I have never been a huge fan, but I've really been enjoying the recently released 1977 Cornell/Barton Hall show. Donna Jean brings a sweetness to songs like St. Stephen that you don't hear on earlier, or studio, versions.

Favorite summer beers?

President Josiah Bartlett on The West Wing

Barney Miller wasn't the best or worst, but for me he was the least important reason I tuned in to that show. Hal Linden was a very good straight man for a supporting cast that was just ridiculous.

I so wanted to hear Victor's interview with a dentist on Victor and Tiny's podcast. I guess I'll just have to take Victor's word that whatever the dentist said was "unbeleebable."

*American: The Grapes of Wrath

I think I've heard Nate refer to using Stata on a previous episode, but I could be wrong. My guess would be either Stata or R.

Ignatiy, it sounds like The Railway Journey would be a nice complement to Ambrose's Nothing Like It In the World, which I finally read this summer.

Many of those already mentioned, but I have to include Josh Ruben's appearance on You Made It Weird. As Pete Holmes mentions at the outset, they were both tired and a bit punchy, but their "bit time" in this episode is really classic. I think I've listened to it four times, and I'm not even a Weirdo.

"Julia Louis-Dreyfus was not the first choice to play Elaine Benes.."
Do we know who WAS first choice?

I'd mention a certain creek, but the Penguin might slap my knuckles with a slide rule.

The opening sequence where Chili breaks Ray Bones' nose to get his jacket back is one of my favorite in all of modern cinema. Just the way it's shot, along with the upbeat score and lead in to the opening credits…brilliant. I also get a kick out of the follow-up scene where Ray complains to his boss, played by Alex

I listen to several of the comedy podcasts regularly reviewed here, but has anyone else been listening to FiveThirtyEight Elections? I've learned a lot more about primaries, caucuses and polling than i ever I wanted to know, but the good humor shared among Nate Silver and the other panelists—particularly Clare

I hate to be a nagger, but I don't think you're correct.

Lakshmi Zing!

I'm about a third of the way through The Emperor of all Maladies and am really enjoying it. A friend lent me Five Days at Memorial , but I've been dreading starting it as I found Zeitoun both horrific and depressing (although it's really well done).. Anyone read Five Days?
