I got the same feeling about the Everybody Loves Raymond piece.  Well written, etc., but really, both shows are crap, and i won't consider revisiting/watching either.

Bachelor - it's kind of fascinating.  I cannot understand why these women would put themselves through that.  It really crushes each one of them, one at a time.

TV watching goes way down in the summer for most people.  Drinking, fireworks, boating, and all the respective, related injuries and deaths go waaaaaaay up.
