was Jake's 80s Action Hero voice actually a dead-on Diedrich Bader impression?

My theory is he lost is zeal for comics when everything went down with his son. Almost everything before that is great, well-written, emotional (if manipulative), character-based comics. And everything after is just Big Dumb Bombastic Loud Action Movie like he's trying to one-up Mark Millar.

The two books I always recommend to anyone starting out on Spider-Man are "Spider-Man/Human Torch"  and "Spider-Man: Blue" as between the two of them they tell you pretty much anything you need to know about Peter Parker the person and Spider-Man the hero.

When all the characters in a movie speak a foreign language, let's say… I don't know, Russian and only Russian, and there's no reason for them to speak anything other than Russian, but instead they speak English with a Russian accent. I call this the "K-19 Effect"
