I didn't get them as presents (except for myself) but I got an outfit to go out in, jeans and a nice blouse. I can officially say my jean size is smaller than it was when I was in junior high school. (I'm way too braggtastic about this.)

The only time the nails bother me is when you know that person can't possibly work with those claws coming out of their fingers. I like to mix it up on my fingers, but I keep my nails to typeable lengths, because I like to actually work.

My birthday was Saturday, and I got that a lot too growing up. What was I supposed to do about it, pick an arbitrary day and celebrate then?

I think all of us are aware of topic drift when it comes to networks. I'm with you- I just think the shows suck. The only one I found halfway tolerable was "little people big world" and my love affair with that one ended when the dad got busted for DWI. I keep picturing him getting loaded on one beer and then going to

Honestly, my favorite Asimov book is "Murder at the ABA", which is a mystery that has nothing to do with sci-fi. As a kid, I thought he only was a mystery writer, because this was the first one of his that I read. (seriously, it's funny. He wrote himself into the book, not very flatteringly. I think that's awesome.)

How dare you, sir!?

I want to be flippiant and say I want to teach the world to sing, but really, I want to give everyone a copy of UHF, because clearly it's the best movie ever, especially watched with the commentary. Or Blazing Saddles, or Galaxy Quests. Basically, movies with happy endings.

Hey, if they can cast a big buff blond dude to be Wesley Crusher all grown up, all bets are off.

I went to a Star Trek convention last month (yes, *that* nerdy) and Nicole DeBoer was one of the guests. I'm sure she wouldn't be like "So-and-so was an asshole!" (wouldn't be political) but most of her cast-related anecdotes involved them being cordial, but I got the feeling they were all pretty professional. Rene

You and I are around the same age, and I feel that's why DS9 spoke so deeply to me too- TNG was great for a pre-teen me, being straightforward in characterization, but DS9 taught me shades of grey with my black and white. I was also a soap watcher back in the day, and shows that acknowledged that you watched them from
