I know of what you speak, and yes. I had a set of twins in my junior high school class that were blond and yeah, I imagined myself to be their Yalith. What can I say, I've been a perv from way back.

Ms Henry wrote the Misty books, which I was in love with during my horse phase. Those are definitely on my share-with-kids list.

I ordered my first BCS book through Scholastic. Not sure why, but I know we must have pumped lots of money into Scholastic over the years after the obsession hit.

Never ordered any posters myself (my dad wouldn't let me) but the books! I remember once that I was the only one to turn in an order form and my teacher forgot to send it in, but then she let me pick out two books out of her reward stash. Score! I also was given Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm and Anne of Green Gables by

It's certainly one of the best things I love about being an aunt. I was never so proud when my niece and I sang a Jem and the Holograms song together. (I aim low)

There are so many books I read as a kid/early teen that I've revisited as an adult that I was like, wow, that was there the whole time? (Surprise in this category: Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm- Rebecca clearly repeats all the town gossip innocently, which I didn't get as a kid.)

My parents rewarded my sister and I differently for good behavior/grades. She got toys and candy, I got books. Still think I got the best deal.

I started with A Wind In The Door and read the rest of the Time Quartet before I ever read A Wrinkle in Time. Have to say that A Swiftly Tilting Planet is my favorite, followed by Many Waters, then Wind and Wrinkle. I watched the movie too, and enjoyed it, but I remember thinking that they condensed the plot too much,

I rented it forever ago and started to watch it, but for some reason, the girl (don't know if she's Esther too) saying goodbye to the family just turned me off and I've never revisited it. I probably would enjoy it more now.

Martial Law love!
(Seriously, it was appointment TV in my household. Pretty sure my family was watching for Arsenio though, the Sammo love came later.)

Vaguely OT: I have this classical music compilation that has a song on there called "City Called Heaven" that I swear is sung by Brooks. The lyrics are oddly appropriate too. The version I have is by a dude named Jubilant Sykes, but all the YT versions are choirs.
