It might sound silly, but The Land Before Time remains to be the only movie that makes me an emotional wreck if I ever watch it (which hasn't been in a long time, for obvious reasons). I love it as a movie, but I can't believe how it still manages to break my barriers down and make me feel like a scared little kid

I felt the same. I don't know if it's because I'm Australian so the accent is more noticeable to me, but I genuinely found both the mother and son so incredibly grating in voice and character that I felt little sympathy for either of them.

Thanks, always wondered how the coding worked on Disqus.

Watched Insomnia and Europa Report both for the first time.

I actually liked the story, mostly because I loved that we had a focus on someone outside of the usual Middle-earth crowd (and Celebrimbor of all characters!). But those last 20 minutes or so… gah, absolutely hated it. Not only from a story perspective, but the fact that the final boss is only a quick QTE soured my

I'm about 25 hours into Far Cry 4 (64% or so completion). I usually like to search for all the collectibles and do as many side quests as possible in areas before advancing the main story; and it lets me soak in the world a bit more.

Shadow of Mordor was a bit of a sleeper hit. It's like it took the best mechanics of the Arkham and Assassin's Creed games and implemented them better than both.

Meanwhile, the internet's sudden emergence of astrophysicists remain displeased.

I've only listened to it twice so far, but I am mostly enjoying it as a Foo Fighters record (that sounds so condescending to them, but isn't mean to be). I agree though, Wasting Light impressed me from the very first spin, and I don't think Sonic Highways lives up to that.

Yep. Seen them live twice, and both times were fantastic. I'm also a sucker for audience engagement, and I'll never tire of Dave's random stories.

The abundance of astrophysicists that have suddenly popped up on the internet in time for Interstellar really is quite amusing, though (I'm looking at you, Jeremy Jahns).

Sex Panther cologne from Anchorman.

Couldn't agree more. I think you'll find most audiences don't want a "smart movie" they don't get for the sake of complexity, but rather one that constantly keeps them thinking and peaks their curiousity about what happens next. There's always a lot of complexities and fresh ideas in Nolan's work, more than *most*

Despite all its faults… I'm really, really going to miss this show. Boardwalk is one of the only shows I've actually watched since the very beginning and made it to the bitter end with. It's had its ups and downs, but I've enjoyed it nonetheless, and I don't think I've ever been more hurt over a fictional character

Agreed. While you can generally map out the human/android paths, the Alien is completely unpredictable and creates plenty of tense moments. I never really felt frustrated when it killed me, rather more of a sense of "Clever girl…"

Yeah, I think Mikami mistook archaic controls to mean a classic horror experience. We only put up with them back then because we didn't know any better - now they stick out like a sore thumb.

Agreed. And while I don't think Alien: Isolation is perfect, it's a genuinely frightening game due to it's incredible sound design, excellent environmental lighting, and a difficult (not not unfair) AI in between scattered save points that make you think and work for your survival.

Yeah, it's not entirely surprising either. I learnt more game mechanics from the loading screens than the game itself.

Have to agree with this review. I was probably a bit more excited than I should have been for The Evil Within (and I'm not even a Resident Evil fan), and I thought we'd be seeing something akin to the original Silent Hill trilogy.

I was oddly anticipating this movie, even though I knew it wasn't going to be a world-beater. I silently hoped it would be one of those fun movies with enough charm to keep me coming back to it on Blu ray, even if it was critically-panned.
