on warmaking issues and civil liberties, one can argue that the democrats—at least when they hold any power—are pretty damn right of center.  i'm not sure that they've "moved" that direction recently, except in adopting the rhetoric of the "War on Terror."

Isn't it just awful when those who share your cultural tastes do not share your political tastes?   Why doesn't the force of our epistemic closure entirely repel them from consuming culture with us?

speaking of gullible, remember when we all voted for that guy who ran as a constitutional-law professor who cared about civil liberties?  then he declared the right to kill citizens without due process.  BOY, WERE OUR FACES RED.

he's signed into law a policy of indefinite detention that includes US citizens, and assumed the power to kill US citizens without due process.  bush did not go so far.
