I think it's just an innocent stereotype. Obviously, you become friends with someone if you have things in common, and not because his/her sexual orientation.
But there are also people who assume that all gays/lesbians should get along just fine because they are all gays/lesbians. A ridiculous assumption in my opinion.

I think this show is a lot better than New Normal, and the ratings are not so bad in NBC standards. 
Given that NBC comedy is not so strong in ratings anyway (not necessarily a reflection of quality) and 30 Rock ending and Up All Night getting axed due to extremely low ratings (hope I'd be wrong about this one, though)…

When you are away from home, and find out some heartbreaking news about a family member, that particular moment is one of the worst moments that any human can go through. You can't never feel farther away from home than that moment.
