Not to derail this thread, but as SNL has taught me "leagues" isn't actually a measure of depth. I believe "fathoms" would be the correct term. Of course I am not going back this up with any sort of actual research beyond a Phil Hartman SNL sketch so I could be wrong.

Let's not forget that in the book Johnny gets all of his food served to him, get's to relax all day in bed, receives free healthcare and never has to work a day in his life!

I loved this book. It sounds like I read it much later in life then the rest of you as I found a used copy in college at Powell's in Portland. I grabbed it because the stark plainspoken title caught my attention. I could understand some feelings of monotonous, but I read the book so quickly that didn't seem to hit me.

Reading Larry McMurtry taught me that the most surefire way is to shoot yourself through the eye.

Nobody "reads" People. They just look at the pictures.
